Protecting The Marine Ecosystem
In the E-STEM educational speech this week, Ms. Sebnem Deyanat shares with us the effort of MAVi STEAM DALGASI BEYKOZ’DA, an organization that works for protecting the ocean, on teaching people to learn the importance of the marine system and training them to contribute to its protection.

This speech moves me a lot. From it, I realized what a big role the marine system plays in our world and how hard it is to save it from getting polluted. From the perspective of a student, I think we can help with this tremendous project by doing some simple things in our daily life as well.
First, save water personally. This concept is wide enough for everybody to exhibit in may different ways. When we wash raw meat or vegetables, we can reuse the water; While we are taking a bath, do not stay under the running water for too long; As we open a bottle of mineral water, try to drink the total amount and do not leave……Each small step is useful for the situation to be changed.

Second, give enough guidance of water and the marine ecosystem to your friends, family and the community. Some guys who had tried this way gave it up in the end since it is not very convincing for everyone, but I believe that it will work on a large amount of residents if we consist claiming the benefits about this topic to them. Let’s take my experience as a example: At school, I once saw some naughty students opening the running water and splashing the flowing water onto each other. Besides, there are also students and teachers who leave their rooms without turning off the air conditioner. I couldn’t dure these wasteful behaviors, so I then started making posters and notes on saving water and preventing wasting electric energy. At the same time, I gave some instructions to them about how harmful these actions could be and what else they could do to avoid the deterioration of environmental issues. Several weeks later, I seldom saw those students using too much water in the bathroom. In my point of view, this act had at least made some efforts, although the scope is not large. In other words, if we keep on leading the waves of protecting nature, we are sure to taste some achievements at last.

Third, try to be a member of some relevant local organizations and make some donations to the projects that are bent to protect the environment. Since the oral effort seems not enough for accelerating practical actions, it is necessary to invest some of our free money to support those organizations with the ability to done something. Not long ago, I started to donate my pocket money to FRIENDS OF NATURE, an environment-protecting(including marine environment) organization in China. Besides, I also entered Anhui Rare Bird Conservation Association and contributed to its activities materially. I hope the property I spent will be used in the right way.
In short, saving the marine ecosystem and the environment cannot be achieved immediately, but we are able to accelerate it if we work together toward the same direction. I wish this dream could came true in the future.
