How to Cure a Turtle with a White Eye

The last month, one of my pet turtles had one eye covered with a sticky white membrane. At first, it could not open that eye; however, with the deterioration of the illness, the eye even began to swell and I could not find the right position to open it.

The reason of this common illness is the foreign matter in the water. For my turtle, the frequency of changing water is too high and somesmall minerals as wel aschloride had gone into its eyes, rising the risk of swelling.

The solution is also simple: common eyedrops that includes chloramphenicol or erythromycin. They are able to clean the bacteria colonies in the swelling eye and diminish inflammation. With the help of chloramphenicol, its eyes changed back in only about one week.

From this issue, I learnt that only the corresponding medecine could relieve an illness effectively.
