A Successful End to the Birdwatching Club’s National Day Trip at Fucha Mountain

On October 3, amid the crisp autumn atmosphere of the National Day holiday, members of the Hefei No. 1 High School Birdwatching Club set off at dawn to Fucha Mountain in Feidong County for an immersive nature exploration.

This was more than just a birdwatching trip—it was a vivid lesson in nature. While tracking the movements of birds in the sky, the students also carefully observed the world at their feet. They encountered plants with unique survival strategies: wild roses armed with thorns, Chinese tallow trees laden with nutritious berries, and tung oil trees rich in fatty seeds. Along the forest paths, azure butterflies fluttered among flowers, crested honey buzzards soared overhead, and the cooing of Oriental turtle doves echoed from the branches. Even the behaviors of insects like stink bugs and click beetles sparked keen interest among the group.

At noon, everyone sat together on the mountainside, sharing a simple lunch. A few butterflies lingered nearby, adding a touch of charm and tranquility to the meal.

The journey culminated at the mountain peak. The highlight of the trip was an unexpectedly close and clear observation of crested honey buzzards and common kestrels soaring overhead—a spectacular finale to the day’s exploration.

The Fucha Mountain trip concluded successfully, leaving participants not only with deeper knowledge but also with joy and friendship forged through their connection with nature. We look forward to more students joining us in future activities, as we step into the vibrant world of nature and uncover more of its wonders together!
